Avengers: Endgame Encore New Footage: What's Added

Avengers: Endgame returns to cinemas worldwide on 25 September 2026 as Avengers Endgame: Encore, including in India. It carries new material built to lead into Avengers: Doomsday, which opens on 18 December 2026.

The part worth knowing before you book: the extra footage is not the same on every screen. The format you pick decides how much new material you see.

The roughly three-minute gap between standard and premium screenings is the material reserved for IMAX and Infinity Vision. That includes the Doomsday footage, which is exclusive to those formats.

What has been added

• A custom introduction before the film.
• Additional footage inside the film. Marvel has not published a scene-by-scene list, so treat any claim about specific new scenes as unconfirmed until the film opens.
• A new end tag that bridges towards Doomsday.
• An exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday, in IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings.

Early trailer comparisons also suggest a new colour grade, with Thanos's scenes showing deeper contrast and stronger colour. One of Tony Stark's lines about time travel also appears reworded. Disney has not confirmed either change, and trailer compression can create differences that are not really there, so wait for the release before treating these as fact.

Joe Russo has called the Encore "required viewing" before Doomsday, which the Russos also directed.

The catch: format decides what you see

The full added material and the Doomsday preview are attached to IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings. Infinity Vision is Disney's new certification for premium large-format auditoriums: big screens, bright laser projection and immersive sound. Disney says 75 cinemas in the US and 300 elsewhere were certified as of April 2026.

In the US, major chains are selling the Encore mainly in premium formats. AMC lists IMAX, Dolby, Prime and XL, and Regal lists IMAX, 4DX and ScreenX. Reported AMC premium prices go up to about $28 with fees. If there is no standard screening near you, you will be paying premium prices either way.

Watching it in India

• Release: 25 September 2026, the same day as the global release.
• Bookings: open now on the usual booking apps and cinema chain sites.
• Languages: English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
• Formats: IMAX and Infinity Vision, plus 4DX, MX4D, ScreenX, Dolby Vision, HDR by Barco and ICE.

If the Doomsday footage is why you are going, book an IMAX or Infinity Vision show specifically. 4DX, ScreenX and the other premium formats are good ways to see the film, but the Doomsday-exclusive material has only been confirmed for IMAX and Infinity Vision.

Before you book

• Check the format on the listing, not the film title. Chains label IMAX clearly, but Infinity Vision is new and may appear under a cinema's own premium branding.
• Use runtime as a tell. A listing of about 3 hours 6 minutes is the full premium version. About 3 hours 3 minutes is the standard Encore.
• Plan for the length. With ads and trailers, a premium show can run close to three and a half hours.
• Confirm with the cinema if the listing is unclear. Format labels in the first week of a re-release are often inconsistent.

Why Endgame is back now

Endgame was the highest-grossing film of all time from July 2019 until March 2021, when Avatar took the record back after its China re-release. It finished with about $2.8 billion worldwide.

This is not its first return. In June 2019, a re-release in about 1,040 US cinemas added roughly seven minutes: a Stan Lee tribute, an unfinished deleted scene, and a preview of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Encore follows the same idea, now aimed at Doomsday. That film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, with Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers.

Is the standard screening worth it?

If you simply want to see Endgame on a big screen again, yes, and it will usually cost less. If you are going for the Doomsday setup, no: book IMAX or Infinity Vision. That is the whole distinction, and it is better to know it before you are in the auditorium.
