Disney is introducing a premium cinema format called Infinity Vision, launching alongside Avengers Endgame: Encore on 25 September 2026. If you are booking that re-release, it matters, because the format determines whether you see the new footage at all.
What it actually is
Infinity Vision is a certification, not a chain. Rather than building its own auditoriums, Disney certifies existing ones that meet a specification: a large screen, laser projection, and immersive audio.
The closest comparison is Dolby Cinema or IMAX — a standard a venue is measured against, then badged. The practical consequence is that availability depends on which cinemas near you have qualifying rooms, not on which chain you use.
Why Disney is doing this now
Premium tickets carry higher prices and higher margins, and studios have watched IMAX capture a growing share of opening-weekend revenue for tentpole films. A studio-owned certification lets Disney claim some of that premium directly rather than sharing it.
Launching it on a guaranteed-demand title, with exclusive footage as the incentive, is a straightforward way to establish the format before Doomsday arrives in December. That reading is ours, not Disney's stated reasoning.
What it means for Endgame: Encore
The four minutes of new material and the Doomsday first look are attached to IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings only. Standard digital screenings show the Encore presentation without them.
