Prime Video has announced the second season of its reality series Alliance, with the new season set to premiere on January 14, 2027. The show will stream exclusively on the platform, with Kunal Kemmu returning as host. This is the second time the series has been brought back, and it’s the first time the format is being reshaped with higher stakes and sharper gameplay. The Indian adaptation of the Dutch reality format created by John de Mol is produced by Banijay Asia. The first season featured 16 celebrity contestants, known as Allies, who competed in physical and mental challenges while navigating alliances, shifting loyalties and tasks designed to test their strategy.
Alliance Season 2 is not just a continuation of the first; it’s a reimagining. The show’s creators have clearly taken cues from the first season’s success, but with a more intense and unpredictable structure. Prime Video’s Director and Head of Originals, Nikhil Madhok, emphasized that the first season showed viewers were interested in a reality format centered on strategy and gameplay. “The response to Alliance Season 1 validated what we always believed, that Indian audiences are ready for a smarter form of reality entertainment,” he said. The show didn’t just find an audience; it created a community of viewers who were invested in every move, every alliance, and every shift in the game. The love that season 1 got inspired us to ensure we don’t make them wait one full year.
The new season will introduce higher stakes and changes to the game. “We are bringing back Season 2 sooner, with higher stakes, sharper gameplay, more drama, and an evolved ‘System’ that will test the Allies like never before,” said Madhok. The “System” is a new element that will be introduced to test the contestants’ strategic thinking and adaptability. It’s a bold move, and it’s clear that the show is aiming to push the boundaries of what a reality series can be in India. Banijay Asia, the production company, also confirmed that the new season will continue to focus on strategy and relationships while introducing new ways to test the contestants. “Alliance is a format that asks a very simple question: when the rules keep changing, who can keep their head in the game?” said Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO, Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India. “That tension between strategy and human behaviour is what made Season 1 so compelling, and it is also what gives us so much room to evolve the show.”
Kunal Kemmu, the host, is returning for Season 2. Mrinalini Jain, Group Chief Development Officer, Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, confirmed his return. “Alliance has a very particular energy to it. The challenge with bringing back a format that audiences have embraced so quickly is to preserve what made it feel fresh in the first place, while finding new ways to surprise them,” she said. Kemmu’s presence is expected to add a distinct personality and sense of humor to the show, which is already known for its sharp wit and unpredictable nature. The show’s creators are clearly aiming to keep the same energy but with a more intense and unpredictable gameplay.
The new season will premiere on Prime Video on January 14, 2027. The contestants and gameplay details are yet to be announced. But what’s clear is that this is a show that’s not just coming back—it’s coming back with a new identity. It’s a show that’s already established itself as a defining title in India’s unscripted space. The first season was a hit, and the second season is a continuation of that success, but with a more intense and unpredictable structure.
This is a big deal for Prime Video and Banijay Asia. It’s a big deal for Indian audiences, and it’s a big deal for the format itself. The show is not just a series—it’s a cultural phenomenon. It’s a show that’s already created a community of viewers who are invested in every move, every alliance, and every shift in the game. The show’s creators are clearly aiming to keep that energy alive, but with a more intense and unpredictable structure.
For fans of the first season, this is a welcome return. For new viewers, it’s a chance to see what the format can do when it’s pushed to its limits. The show is not just a reality series—it’s a test of strategy, a showcase of human behavior, and a glimpse into what the future of unscripted entertainment might look like.
